Strategically located in the industrial zone of Mamonal, Bolívar, the Proeléctrica Mamonal thermal power plant is a benchmark for reliability in the National Interconnected System (SIN). Since 1993, this natural gas plant has guaranteed reliable energy at the most critical times, especially during prolonged droughts.
With a capacity of 90 MW and improved cycle STIG technology, Proeléctrica Mamonal was a pioneer in Colombia as the first centrally dispatched plant under the reliability charge scheme. Its operation with two GE LM5000 turbines and a design focused on efficiency and low emissions position it as a robust and sustainable solution. The plant is currently undergoing a modernization and repowering process that will enable it to reach a capacity of 108 MW, improving its efficiency and reaffirming its commitment to the country's energy development.
