As part of its commitment to sustainability and diversification of its energy portfolio, Proeléctrica commissioned GD El Roble I, its first distributed solar generation project, in 2024. This mini solar farm consists of more than 1,800 panels with a solar tracking structure, which allows for greater energy generation during the day and improves the efficiency of the system.
Connected to the Local Distribution System, the plant injects its energy into the Unregulated Wholesale Energy Market through a PPA contract, providing clean and reliable energy. Located in the village of Cayo Palma in the municipality of El Roble, Sucre, this plant avoids more than 290 tons of CO₂ equivalent per year, actively contributing to the energy development of the Caribbean region.
